Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026
Sacred Count (“the app”) is operated by Akshay Kotish (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
Account information. You sign in with your phone number. We collect that phone number and store an authentication record. A one-time verification code is sent to you by SMS. This is handled by Google Firebase Authentication (standard SMS rates from your carrier may apply).
Your practice data. The chants you use or create, your counts, targets and the time of your last count. Stored in Google Cloud Firestore, under your account, so it syncs across your devices.
Questions you ask. If you use the “Ask” feature, the text of your question (and the recent conversation in that session) is sent to Google’s Gemini API via our server to generate an answer. We do not store your questions.
Purchase status. If you subscribe, we store a flag that your account is premium, the subscription’s expiry date, and the store’s transaction/product identifier. Your payment details are never seen or stored by us — payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google.
Microphone / speech. If you enable Voice Count, audio is captured only while you are actively counting and is processed by your device’s own speech recognition service (Apple’s or Google’s) to produce text. We do not record, upload or store your audio. The app only looks at the resulting text to count repetitions of your chosen chant.
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, photos, or advertising identifiers. There are no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Why we collect it
- To sign you in and keep your practice data across devices.
- To count your chants and show your history.
- To answer your questions in the Ask feature.
- To honour your 7-day free trial and subscription.
We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers needed to run the app:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions) | Accounts, data storage, backend |
| Google Gemini API | Generating answers in the Ask feature |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | Processing your purchase |
Data retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us at the address below; we will delete it within 30 days. See the delete-account page for steps.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored in Google Cloud. Access rules restrict your data so that only you (when signed in) can read or write it. API keys for our AI provider are held server-side and never shipped in the app.
Children
Sacred Count is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California) you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Contact us to exercise any of these.
Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above will change. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.
